Community First Wessex

This organisation runs the route 74 service around village in the mornings on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays.  This is usually using a white minibus and the route is a figure of eight from the Community Centre, to Harvey’s Field, Woodlands, Red Lion Lane, Dellands, Kercher’s Field, Sapley Lane, Charledown Road, Poultons Close, Pond Close, Sapley Lane, Winchester Street, Greyhound Lane, Woodlands, St Mary’s Hall (High St)  Kingsclere Road, Hilltop Road, railway station, Station Hill, Station Road, London Road and back to the Community Centre bus lay by.

The route provides each loop with a service every half hour.  With one complete circuit (no 1143 departure from the Community Centre) omitted to comply with driver’s hours legislation.  The last departure from the Community Centre is at 1307.  The service is no longer subsidised but concessionary pass holders will continue to travel free of charge and there will be a standard fare of £2.00 for others, with accompanied children under 15 travelling free.  This service is available to users of all ages and not just the elderly.

As the route has no formal bus stops (apart from in the village centre) a ‘hail and ride’ service operates around most of the route but excludes the High Street (both directions), London Road and Kingsclere Road from the traffic lights to Riverside Close.
