The Overton Sheepfair

Overton Sheepfair logo

From medieval times until the early twentieth century, farmers would make their way to Overton’s  Sheepfair to buy and sell their stock. Today we honour this historical event in a different style.

Since the year 2000, our modern-day Sheepfair has been held every four years. Villagers join together to run the event with the help of the Sheepfair Committee. And Overton transforms itself for the weekend, depending upon that year’s theme.

In honour of its roots, every Sheepfair is officially opened with a small flock of sheep being herded along Winchester Street.

The next sheepfair
is in July 2028
